Legal Aid of Arkansas

All money raised in connection with the Law Day Running Festival will go directly to Legal Aid of Arkansas to help it better serve the needs of low-income Arkansans.

Legal Aid of Arkansas is a non-profit agency, funded in part by the federal Legal Services Corporation, which provides free civil legal services to low-income Arkansans. The mission of Legal Aid is to champion equal justice for low-income individuals and communities and to remedy the conditions that burden and marginalize them.

Legal Aid provides high quality, courteous, and effective legal services to low-income individuals and communities in 31 counties in northern and eastern Arkansas. Offices are located in Springdale, Harrison, Helena-West Helena, Jonesboro, Newport, West Memphis and at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. In addition to our staff of attorneys, paralegals, and assistants, Legal Aid enlists the private legal community to help meet the state’s substantial legal needs.

In 2014, Legal Aid served almost 7,000 Arkansans below 200% of the poverty line. Our four core priority areas are: Access to Safe and Affordable Housing; Protection from Domestic Violence; Economic Justice; and Consumer Rights. These core areas reflect Legal Aid’s strategic focus to support families; preserve homes; maintain economic stability; ensure safety, stability and health; and to identify and address the needs of vulnerable populations
